I BELIEVE IN ART AND CREATION

“Eternity is in love with the creations of time” — William Blake.

I have always believed in the intrinsic value of art and the act of creation.

The joy I find in making is pure and essential—it needs no justification. Magic is made when the hands are busy and the mind is inspired. Each piece of jewellery I make is a small celebration of the creative impulse.

I ADORE THE CRAFT

“Craftsmanship names an enduring, basic human impulse, the desire to do a job well for its own sake” — Richard Sennett.

Craftsmanship is meditative—the focus, the repetition, the acceptance. It is synonymous with care. It brings out our best nature.

My jewellery is my craft. Each piece spends hours in my hands. It becomes something that holds not just aesthetic value, but the energy of thoughtful making. When you wear my jewellery, you carry devotion translated into form.

I AM COMPELLED BY SYMBOLS

“What is most personal is most universal” — Carl Rogers.

The symbols that resonate can tell us who we are; our interpretation can uncover memories. Symbols can awaken our vision and help us navigate decisions.

I have always been drawn to symbols. Their capacity to inspire. Their powerful simplicity. Their reverence and relevance across time and place. My signet bird ring is one of my most precious possessions and I wear it daily. I want to know what symbols you are drawn to.

I CARE ABOUT THE EARTH

"The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction" — Rachel Carson.

Whether known or unknown, the history of what we wear can either lighten our spirit or weigh us down. I do not like the secret shame that comes with purchasing something with shady origins.

At the same time, I do not believe in perfection in materials, just better choices.

I try to integrate as much reclaimed and recycled materials into my pieces, while still selecting for quality. I acknowledge where new materials are used, which can include a percentage of the metals I cast in. For a deeper dive into my materials, read here.

SOME OTHER STUFF

Where I create from : a spare room in my home in the Macedon Ranges, with my dog Bear often found sleeping at my feet.

First piece ever made : the first important piece I ever made was a ring for my partner, Brody. We had an early ritual of hand-making gifts for each other. My quest to create something thoughtful, wearable and full of spirit resulted in a silver ring etched with symbols. Seven years later, he still wears it on his pinky finger.

What inspires me right now : caring for my home with my partner. Tea brewed from herbs in my garden. The bunny I saw on my commute home the other day. My dog Bear asleep in her bed.
